Are you disappointed by God? Or disappointed with God? Even disappointed in God? Let down by faith? These are common emotions we all go through from time to time as we journey through life.
If God does not perform in the manner we think He should, we may conclude we’re disappointed by God. We become disillusioned with Him and dissatisfied with His performance. You can even say life is disappointing and this can lead to a wavering faith in God, especially in His sovereignty and His goodness.
Is it Wrong To Feel Disappointed With God?
Disappointment with God is not necessarily wrong or sinful; rather, it is a part of the human condition. The word disappointment means “a feeling of dissatisfaction when one’s hopes, desires, and expectations fail to come to pass.” When God somehow fails to satisfy our hopes or does not live up to our expectations, disappointment inevitably follows.
If God does not perform in the manner we think He should, we become disillusioned with Him and dissatisfied with His performance. This can lead to a wavering faith in God, especially in His sovereignty and His goodness.
When God does not act when we think He should act, it is not because He is unable to do so. Rather, He simply chooses not to. While this might seem an arbitrary or capricious act on His part, the exact opposite is true. God chooses to act or not to act according to His perfect will in order to bring about His righteous purposes.
All Things Works Together To Those Who Love God
He tells us in Isaiah 46:11, “From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do.” Even the birds are somehow part of His foreordained plan. Furthermore, there are times when He chooses to let us know His plans (Isaiah 46:10), and times when He does not.
Sometimes we understand what He is doing; sometimes we do not (Isaiah 55:9). One thing we do know for sure: if we belong to Him, whatever He does will be to our benefit, whether or not we understand it (Romans 8:28).
5 Keys To Avoid Disappointment With God
- Align our wills with His,
- Submitting to His will in all things,
- Trusting in His faithfulness,
- Meditating in His words day by day,
- Understanding the love of God.
Doing so will not only keep us from fear and being disappointed with God, but it will also preclude grumbling and complaining about the events that occur in our lives.
Example of The Isrealites
The Israelites in the desert griped and questioned God on several occasions, despite having seen miraculous displays of His power in the parting of the Red Sea, the provision of manna and quail in the wilderness, and the glory of the Lord that followed them in the form of a pillar of fire (Exodus 15–16; Numbers 14:2-37).
Despite God’s continual faithfulness to His people, they grumbled and were disappointed with God because He did not act as they thought He should. Rather than submitting to His will and trusting Him, they were in a constant state of turmoil and confusion.
Align With God’s Will And Know Peace
When we align our wills with God’s will and when we can say, with Jesus, “Not my will but yours be done” Luke 22:42, then we find the contentment Paul spoke of in 1 Timothy 6:6-10 and Philippians 4:11-12.
Paul had learned to be content with whatever God sent his way. He trusted God and submitted to His will, knowing that a holy, righteous, perfect, loving, and merciful God would work all things together for his good because that is what He promised – Romans 8:28.
When we see God in that light, we cannot possibly be disappointed with Him. Rather, we submit willingly to our heavenly Father, knowing that His will is perfect and that everything He brings to pass in our lives will be for our good and His glory.

Angry And Disappointed With God?
When God disappoints you, do you get angry and disappointed with God? Let’s be honest all of us face disappointment from time to time no matter how much weight you have or how good of a person you are. Sooner or later something or somebody will shake your feet to its foundations. It may be something simple such as not getting that promotion you really hoped for, not closing that big sale that you worked so hard for; not qualifying for a loan to buy that house that you really want. It may even be something more serious as a marriage relationship falling apart, the death of a loved one or an incurable illness.
Whatever it is, doctor’s appointment process and so on. The most important you need to know is that disappointments will come. You need to learn how to stay on track and deal with them when they do. Be careful not to just become trapped in your past.
God’s Mercies Overrules Our Mistakes
The Bible says the mercies of God are fresh and new every single day. God knows we’re going to make mistakes. He knows we’re not perfect so He provides fresh new mercies and grace every new day.
The Lord is patient towards us even when we feel down and discouraged when God disappoints you. He is never wishing that any should perish but for all to come to repentance. The thing is you must not become trapped in the past. If you’re going to avoid getting trapped in your past you must learn to forgive yourself. But then you must be willing to accept God’s mercy. Please din’t be so critical of yourself that you wont receive what God has to offer.
When God Disappoints You
When God does not act when we think He should act, it is not because He is unable to do so. Rather, He simply chooses not to. While this might seem an arbitrary or capricious act on His part, the exact opposite is true. God chooses to act or not to act according to His perfect and holy will in order to bring about His righteous purposes.
Nothing happens that is out of God’s plan. He has control of every molecule that floats around in the universe, and God’s will encompasses every act and decision made by every person throughout the world at all times. He tells us in Isaiah 46:11, “From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do.” Even the birds are somehow part of His foreordained plan.
Furthermore, there are times when He chooses to let us know His plans (Isaiah 46:10) and times when He does not. Sometimes we understand what He is doing; sometimes we do not (Isaiah 55:9). One thing we do know for sure: if we belong to Him, whatever He does will be to our benefit, whether or not we understand it (Romans 8:28).
Forgive God And Forgive Yourself
Maybe you have made some bad choices and now you’re trying to correct the things you’ve done wrong. That’s okay. What you must understand is you can’t always repair every broken piece of your life or that of somebody else’s.
You can’t fix every mistake, clean up every mess that you have made though you are thinking it is God who have disappointed you. You may be trying to pay a debt that you cannot possibly pay. Perhaps, it is time that you simply receive God’s mercy and forgiveness so you can move on with your life.
Forgive God when you feel down and disappointed. Please understand also that you should not take the easy way out ignoring responsibility for your actions. You may need to seek forgiveness and seek restitution to those you have hurt.
Why God Allows Disappointments
It is easy to say we are disappointed by God. But God’s ways are not our ways – Isaiah 55:8. God want us to be very strong in him and that’s why He permits some situations. Look at what happened when prophet Samuel had a horrible disappointment in his relationship with the first king of Israel, a man named Saul. This young man was humble and shy. But Samuel heed to God’s direction somewhere to pick him out of Israel. Samuel did his best to help Saul pleasing unto God.
Unfortunately Saul refused to leave in obedience to God, and God was like I’m going to eventually reject him as the king, imagine how Samuel must have felt. Maybe you’ve invested a lot of time money, efforts, emotions, energy in a relationship. You did your best to make it work but it didn’t work out for one reason or the other.
To Strengthen Our Faith
God allows things in our lives to make us better and not bitter. To strengthen our faith and not to weaken us.
God went on to tell Samuel, pick up your horn with oil and be on your way I am sending you to the house of Jesse for I have chosen one of the songs to be the new king.
Remember God always has alternative plans. Saul was God’s first choice but when Saul wouldn’t walk in obedience. He blew it and that ruins everything. If you will stop feeling sorry for yourself and instead do what the Bible says the future can be brighter than ever.
Can God Be Trusted?
When you feel let down with God, one of the most important keys a life of Faith as well as moving forward into the great future God has for you is learning to overcome the disappointments in life because disappointments can post such formidable obstacles to letting go of the past. You need to be sure you have dealt with this area.
God Will Never Let Me Down
God never let me down. I have gone through rough times in life, that is why I know this. One thing I saw also is that God never comes late. He is always on time. And that is one thing about faith that you must also know. God is faithful.
He Won’t Let You Down
Perhaps you feel you have blown it. Your life is in shambles and beyond repair.
You may have many trials and tribulations and it seem there is no way out. Just hold on a little longer, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
God will not lift you up to let you down, be encouraged!
Quit Living In The Negative
We all can look back and see things in our lives that we wish would have done differently. What the Bible say is this: make the most of each day. Yesterday’s gone tomorrow may not come you must live for today knowing fully well that God can be trusted. You can trust God for your future. Stop right where you are. What you can do a lot about what remains. How to trust God I strongly believe that God can be trusted indeed
When God Disappoints You
Seek forgiveness and move on. Quick to let go of your mistakes and failures. The disappointments that disturb us the most are usually those caused by other people.
Faith And Disappointment
Disappointments almost always accompany setbacks. When you suffer loss, of course you will feel strong emotions. Nobody expects to be an impenetrable rock or an inaccessible island in the sea. Not even God expect you to be so tough that you simply ignore the disappointments in life. No, when we experience failure or Loss in life to feel sorrow. Have faith in God, it keeps you strong during tough times.
Release It And Let It Go
But no matter what we have gone through no matter how unfair it was or how disappointed we were, we must release it and let it go. Somebody may have walked out on you or may have done you a great wrong. The Bible says the secret things belong to God leave them there. God won’t let you down.

How To Defeat Disappointment
Notice what God told Samuel to do: feel your horn with oil, of a fresh new attitude, put a smile on your face, get the Sprint back in your step, and be on your way.

You can’t be so critical of yourself that you want to receive what God has to offer.

You’ve suffered setbacks you didn’t get what you were praying for. Things didn’t go your way, friend you are not alone. Many upstanding believers experienced similar circumstances.
What’s after that quit wasting your time trying to figure out something that can’t change. You can’t unscramble eggs. Let the past be the past and go on with your life.
Forget About It!
We all encounter circumstances that can grow negative pieces or make us disappointed with ourselves or God. Apostle Paul said; forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead I press on toward the goal (Philippians 3:13).
Every morning when you get up renew your mind and refuse to dwell on what you did wrong the day before, instead declare the faithfulness of God will over your life and your day, command your day to favor you. Free things to do in on yesterday’s disappointment ghetto each day knowing that God is a loving and forgiving God and he has great things in store for you.
It is not always easy to get over some of the things and the bumps in the road, it’s just going to take a strong wheel sometimes it may take courage sometimes, nothing but faith in God will see you through.
I strongly believe this letter has encouraged you. Remain in His love!
